The material is incredibly durable and can stretch to extraordinary lengths without breaking, allowing the user to swing across vast chasms, scale vertical cliffs, or pull heavy objects with ease. The gum's ability to harden upon contact with a target allows it to act as an anchor, creating a tension-based trap that can immobilize even the strongest opponents if they are caught within its grasp.

In Their Own Story

The air in the abandoned warehouse was thick with dust and the scent of old rust. Kurapika stood motionless, his eyes glowing a terrifying crimson as he faced the fleeing Spider member. With a flick of his wrist, a strand of translucent gum shot forward, stretching like liquid light before snapping onto the enemy's ankle. The target screamed as the gum tightened, pulling them off their feet and slamming them into the wall with bone-jarring force. Kurapika didn't speak; he simply reeled in the line, the sticky substance humming with tension, binding his prey in a cocoon of unyielding rubber that no amount of strength could tear apart.

Bungee Gum functions by allowing the user to spit out or shape a malleable, elastic substance from their mouth or hands. Once expelled, the gum can be manipulated into various shapes, such as whips, nets, or ropes, depending on the user's intent. The core mechanic relies on Manipulation Nen, where the user controls the gum's elasticity and adhesion. When it contacts a surface or target, it instantly adheres and hardens slightly to maintain its shape while retaining extreme stretchability. This allows for rapid retraction, pulling objects or people toward the user with significant force. However, there is a critical condition attached to its maximum potential. Unless Kurapika activates his Scarlet Eyes, the gum will not adhere to non-human targets or those who are not members of the Phantom Troupe. When active in this state, it becomes an absolute binding tool for his specific enemies, making escape nearly impossible once caught.

• Bungee Gum works on any target regardless of eye color; the restriction regarding Phantom Troupe members applies only to Kurapika's ability, Chain Jail.
• Kurapika is a Conjurer who becomes a Specialist only when his Scarlet Eyes are activated, not an innate Specialist.
