Following the brutal Battle for Kinghood, Meruem unified the scattered Chimera Ant generals under his banner by defeating them in combat and consuming several—such as the hawk ant and the lion ant—to absorb their abilities. This consolidation created a structured court system where power was centralized rather than distributed among warlords. The Royal Guards were born directly from the Queen as the most powerful ants to serve and protect the King, not selected after his birth. As Meruem evolved intellectually through his interactions with Komugi, the Court's function shifted from purely martial dominance to a more nuanced existence. Shaiapouf and Menthuthuyoupi found themselves navigating the King's growing empathy for humanity, which contradicted their original programming as predators.
